About
I’m Aaron. I work in B2B tech sales, selling software services. Most of my week goes to researching accounts, making calls and writing messages short enough to read on a phone.
I use AI every working day. This site is where I show how, one step at a time, starting with the basics and building toward larger projects you can run every week.
How I use AI
Mostly for reading. Job ads, company filings, press releases, a prospect’s last ten LinkedIn posts. I ask it to pull out the facts that matter for a first call. Then I check them, because it gets things wrong and sounds certain while it does.
A job ad is a good example. AI reads it in seconds and tells me the company is hiring for the problem I solve. It can’t tell me whether that’s a new role or a replacement for someone who left last month. Those are different conversations, and I have to find out which one I’m in.
Writing is where it lets me down. Ask a model for a cold email and you get the email every other rep’s model wrote that morning. It opens with a compliment and says “streamline” twice. Buyers delete those after the first line. So do I.
So AI writes my first draft and I write the second. A lot of this site is about the gap between the two.
How the newsletter works
Most AI advice for sales either assumes you’ve never opened a chat window or skips straight to agents and automation. I’m writing the path in between.
Early issues cover the basics: writing a prompt that gets a usable answer, giving a model context about who you sell to, and checking what it tells you. Later issues build on those into larger projects, like a research routine you run before every call, or standing instructions that mean every chat already knows how you write.
Each issue gives you the prompt, the draft it produced and the version I’d actually send, with the reason for each change. A new one lands every other Tuesday. The Learn page puts every lesson in order, so you can start at the beginning whenever you join.
My setup
Most of it runs on Claude. My rules live in its standing instructions, so every chat already knows how I write. Separate projects add context for specific work on top of that.
I’ll add other tools here once I’ve used them long enough to have an opinion on them.
The rules I write by
I keep a written list and check everything against it, including this page. Some of it:
- No dashes, anywhere.
- None of the words that give a machine away: “delve,” “robust,” “crucial,” “seamless,” “leverage” and the rest of the list.
- Cold emails stay under 75 words and open with something true about the prospect. Not about me.
- One small ask at the end. Price never comes first.
- If I don’t know a fact, I find it or cut the sentence. The model doesn’t get to guess.
The full list is on the Rules page, along with a scanner you can paste your own copy into.
What you won’t find
Claims that AI will 10x your pipeline. Tools I haven’t used on real prospects. Screenshots of revenue. Real names: every example here is changed enough that nobody can be identified.
Get in touch
I’m on LinkedIn, and that’s where I post between issues. Message me there if you want to compare notes, or if you think I can help with something you’re working on.
